Course Objectives

• Provide an overview of the basic concepts of groundwater flow and its relationship to the hydrologic cycle

•Emphasize the interrelationship of geology and groundwater flow, with case studies.

•Introduce Florida hydrogeology basics and current groundwater issues

• Develop problem solving ability and apply concepts through in-class and homework exercises.

Textbook: Fundamentals of Groundwater (Schwartz and Zhang)

Grading:

• The two exams are based on material presented in the lectures and in the textbook or other assigned readings. Exams will be part fill-in-the-blank, part short answer based on the concepts covered in class, and part quantitative, based on the homework assignments.

• There will be 8 homework assignments of 50 points each.
• Each student will give a short (12 minute) presentation to the class during the semester. Topic ideas and more information are attached.
