ANN HEATHERINGTON
Assistant in
Geological Sciences
University of Florida
B.S. Chemistry:
1980, Furman University
M.S.
Chemistry: 1981, Furman
University
Ph.D. Earth
and Planetary Sciences: 1988, Washington
University

Departmental responsibilities:
Management
of thermal ionization mass spectrometry and clean preparation laboratories.
Research interests:
Isotope
geology, igneous and metamorphic geochemistry, geochronology. Specific areas of
interest include:
- Applications
of geochronologic and geochemical techniques to tectonic problems in both
continental and oceanic environments. Current projects include an investigation
of the tectonomagmatic history of the Southeast Coastal Plain basement,
Grenville-age terranes of the Southeast, and studies of the evolution of
the Wyoming craton.
- Evolution
and geochemistry of the mantle and crust. Recent and current projects range
from investigations of the geochemistry of Cenozoic igneous rocks in
western North America to studies of the Precambrian of the Southeastern
USA.
