Bachelor of Arts


Course work in geology is aimed at students who want a degree in geology but do not intend to pursue graduate work. The major requires a total of 32 hours of geology course work. Students must complete at least 23 hours of coursework in GLY at the 3000 level or above including the capstone course in their senior year, GLY 4750L.

Critical-Tracking Requirements

Semester 1:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for semesters 1-5

Semester 2:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for semester 1-5.

Semester 3:

  • Complete MAC 1147 (or equivalent) or STA 2023.
  • Complete 1 of 4 critical- tracking courses (one of the following GLY 1000 or 1001 or 1073, 1102 or 1801 or 2010C or 2026C or 2038C or 2080C or OCE 1005 or ESC 1000; GLY 2100C or GLY 3105C) with a 2.5 critical-tracking GPA on all critical-tracking course work.

Semester 4:

  • Complete 1 additional tracking course with a 2.5 critical-tracking GPA on all critical-tracking course work.

Semester 5:

  • Complete 2 additional GLY courses with a 2.5 critical-tracking GPA on all critical-tracking course work

To remain on track, students must complete the appropriate critical-tracking courses, which appear in bold.
